Daily Prompt Response

Are you superstitious?

Superstitious in what manner? Like sitting on a particular seat on a bus and only walking on perfect boxes on the sidewalk? No. I don’t have such superstitions. I believe that whatever we achieve and become happens only through the work we put in and the outcome that comes out of it.

But I also believe that there is at least some kind of luck associated with sticking with superstitions. It doesn’t happen every now and then. Maybe it never happens. Perhaps the luck I am talking about is just the feeling the brain gets from following these superstitions and then it works accordingly. And when and if the work we have done leads to positive outcomes, our trust in these superstitions gets stronger.

So, do I believe in superstitions or not? Well yes but actually no. I might follow some superstitions such as checking if the volume on my phone is around 70% when I go to sleep. Checking if and not the data connection on my phone is off when I sleep. Or maybe the daily click of the legs just before I get into bed. Have I ever seen any positive effects of these? Maybe. I get a sense of relief from following these occasionally. My life will in no way get affected if I stopped following these superstitions right now.

My suggestion is to follow what makes the brain relax. You don’t want your brain to cook crazy things just because you did not follow a certain pattern or routine. A relaxed brain is a healthy brain and a healthy brain is a path to success. Or at least a path to a place where you feel at ease.
